The Pull Copter Lift-Off Challenge
|
Interested in the physics of flight, or ready to challenge your engineering knowledge in a real-world experiment?
In this workshop, participants receive a pre-assembled 3D printed pull copter and a selection of interchangeable blades. The goal is to run a series of timed trials to see which combination of blade angle and diameter stays in the air the longest. This workshop is about experimentation and data-gathering as you iterate on your design like a true engineer. We will start with an introductory talk covering the core physics behind helicopters. In addition to running your own flight tests, we will discuss the aerodynamics of the best-performing designs and the engineering trade-offs of vertical flight. This workshop is perfect for the curious student, the maker who loves to experiment, or anyone looking for a fun, competitive introduction to aerodynamics. As always, no prior knowledge of physics or 3D printing is required! |
